"If you weep for all the sorrows in this world, in the end, you will have no eyes."
-The Island of Missing Trees by Elif Shafak
Hey you,
It’s been a minute, how are you doing? Seriously, how are you? We’re about to wrap up 2021 and even though I’ve been tired since January, the end-of-the-year burnout is particularly gruesome right now.
I’ve worked as a Social Media Manager for the longest time with a special focus on Instagram and sometime this year, I made the decision to quit. The platform was now supposed to become a space for me to hang with friends and let loose some creative juices but alas, I kept the same hours and routine till I started to resent being on the platform, hence the detox. I’m currently taking one week off IG and it’s been great, look at me writing to you. I might even revive the podcast but let me not put too much on my plate yet.
Is there anything in your life right now that you think you need to take a break from? As a social experiment or to re-focus you? My tip would be to take baby steps, if it’s social media, maybe start with 12 hours before deleting the whole app for a month. Also, you need to figure out what you’d fill your time with when you feel the need to check your apps. In my case, I do a few yoga poses. I work from home so it’s easier for me, if you’re out you should probably read a book(duh), listen to a podcast, or hit up a friend to chat with. You’d be surprised how satisfying this is instead of sending memes back and forth instead of actually talking.
Whatever you decide, extend some grace to yourself and stay flexible, okay?
My October had more DNFs than read books and that’s a record for me. 12 books in total! Thankfully, it didn’t put me in a reading slump and I’m thinking I should do a podcast episode where I go into detail about the art of DNFing while avoiding guilt. What do you think?
This letter was supposed to be a short and sweet one to let you know I’m still alive. Before I leave, Women of K-Pop is a playlist that has been on replay and I’m obsessed. Also, here’s a fun fact.

That fun fact is sounding more scary than fun. Hope your digital detox brings you all the rejuvenation you need xx
That fun fact is sounds true because once someone disturbs my sleep, I'm always disoriented and my body starts buzzing. Anyway, I love you, take as much break as you need and we'll always be here 💛
