Chapter Twenty Eight
The part where we remember happiness is a state of mind, not a destination...
Hey you,
How are things? It’s been a minute, I know. Life keeps life-ing. Don’t you hate how there’s no breather, we just have to keep moving regardless of what we’re going through. Even when we get overwhelmed, it’s tough to stay still because the rest of the world is still moving and now we have to deal with mental motion sickness. I wish I had the right answer to the question, “when does it stop?” Everything I come up with is morbid.
This is the last letter I’ll be sharing with you as a thirty-three-year-old woman. My birthday is on the 15th and I’m being attacked by the birthday blues so, I’ve decided to fight it by sharing some life lessons thoughts that I have formed through my experiences. I find that passing on these “principles” forces me to be reminded of them too so, this is a win-win situation.
Don’t take everything so seriously.
Life is too short to take everything so seriously. (read this again) It is okay to let some of it go. We cannot handle all of the bad that comes to us and we aren’t expected to. (At least, I don’t think so) You aren’t being weak or spineless for not defending yourself or being upset, you are just choosing your battles.
Try new things.
You already know I’m an advocate for this. New things can surprise you! This can be from trying new foods or an audiobook or overcoming a fear to even just trying a new hobby. You don’t even have to fully commit to something just because you attempted to learn it. Plus, there is no need to feel shame for uncompleted or failed attempts. Sometimes we try stuff and it just doesn’t work out. No worries. In the process, you have tried to expand your horizon and maybe learned some useful skills that translate to other things.
Remember to pay it forward.
Of all of the things I have done in my life and things I have learned, the most meaningful are probably when I pay it forward. I try to help out everyone I can in need, I pass on my knowledge, my time, and material things. Many people have helped me get where I am today and I am always looking to do the same for someone else. We ALL have something to offer. Most importantly, life is tough. The world can be cruel. Don’t add to it. Be kind. In fact, be kinder than you think is necessary. Kindness always pays off.
Thank you as always for reading and feel free to share your “life lessons” in the comments below! We can always learn from one another. There’ll be more bookish and kdrama stuff in the next letter, I just had to get this off my chest.
Before I leave, don’t forget to give yourself the grace you always extend to others. You need it too, okay?
If you love my content, please do consider supporting me by giving me a shout-out on social media or in real life (prayers are fine too).
See you on the other side, Dearest.
XOXO
Happy birthday in advance, Amyn 🥳
I hope you're able to shake off the birthday blues and bask in the joy of getting older (and wiser! 😁)
Thank you for sharing. ♥️
Thank you!!! Happy Birthday in advance!✨
