Hey you,
How are things? I know you’re doing your best even if you don’t think so. I know you’re doing the best you can. I’m trying too, in my own little corner even though I constantly need to remind myself of that little fact.
I got into a mini-morbid phase a few days ago. It’s that time of my life when I start to question the rationale for trying so hard to be alive if we’re all just going to die anyway. I’m not suicidal or anything but I legit start praying that I suddenly fall into a coma or something, very dark thoughts get to play here.
As a person who is heavy on self-reflection, I’ve realized that I start getting this way when I over-exert myself at work but tell myself that as long as I finish so and so tasks, I’ll be able to rest. And by rest, I don’t even mean sleep or a day off, I consciously deny myself 30mins breaks. The result? Burnout and morbid thoughts.
Please, don’t be like me. Take a break whenever you feel you’ve reached your maximum. This is a friendly reminder that you can only pour from a cup that is full. The cup is you, BTW and we should strive to keep our cups as full as possible at all times, especially for emergencies. You never know when someone/something you care about would require half of your cup and if you’re running on empty, that’s just not a good scenario and I’m going to stop with the cup analogy now. hehe
If you follow me on Twitter or Instagram, you might have noticed that I haven’t participated in a bit and that’s because I need to get out of the funk and refill my cup.
I’ve been reading but I’ve been watching more Kdramas. Are you reading anything fun? The Indulgent Bibliophile book club members might kick my ass at the end of the month but I found the book to be extremely fascinating.
PS, have you listened to my tipsy review of Wahala by Nikki May and Bridges Are For Burning by Bina Idonije?
Tomorrow I Become A Woman by Aiwanose Odafen is my most recent read by a Nigerian author and I want everyone to read it because of how well done it is. I’m even going to interview the author on the podcast so watch out for that. Nenye shared her thoughts after reading the book and I think she summed it up quite well.
Book two of the Poppy War series, The Dragon Republic by R. F. Kuang was amazing. Whenever I’m reading a fantasy series, I’m always on the lookout for good character development and this has been impeccable so far. Already on book three, I’ll let you know how it goes.
If you’d like to join TIB this month, Ten Questions for Khadija Abdalla Bajaber will provide insight into the mind of the author.
As a book lover, I highly recommend the Kdrama, Romance Is A Bonus Book. It’s a drama that features people who work in publishing. Very wholesome stuff.
I absolutely adored Prison Playbook. I think I even cried, if you haven’t seen this, you definitely should. Yes, it’s a Kdrama.
I made the best ever French Fries that remained crunchy from start to end of my meal using this recipe. I don’t like potatoes so, the crunch needs to be crunching when I eat fries and I finally got it right.
And that’s it from me. PS did you know that a cockroach can hold its breath for 40 minutes? Every time I discover things about cockroaches, the angrier I get at their existence.

I did notice your absence and I wanted to message you to find out if you were good. I’m sorry you’re feeling down at the moment and I hope things get better soon. Sannu 🤗💖
I absolutely loved reading this and the bit about cockroaches took me out 😂. Those things are a menace! I'm going through a rough patch at work right now and your letter came in just in time. Thank youuuu.
