Chapter Twenty Nine
The part where a dream of yours comes true but you have troubles accepting it...
Hey you,
It has been a minute, hasn’t it? How are things? Did you keep up with the gratitude jar, it would be so exciting to open and read through all the things that made your 2022 memorable. But how do you feel? In fact, here’s a journalling prompt for you, how can you prioritize yourself more going forward, and what can you do differently? I’m not one to wait for a new year, month, week, or day to make changes, I just do it. Why? Life is too damn short, bestie. We really can’t tell what’s going to happen next so, while you’re aware of it, do you, okay?
The last week of November was one of the most surreal experiences of my life and I still don’t know how to talk about it so I bought a plant so that I can nurture it with all the feelings I’m feeling, also, the plant would serve as a reminder of all the things I wish to do more of in the aftermath of the experience. I aptly named the plant, Ake.
Ake Festival 2022 was a dream come true for me. I need to give props to content creators because they do a great job of bringing their audience along for the experience. I tried so hard to do the same but I was too overwhelmed from meeting my favorite authors, creators, and readers I’ve engaged with online for years. I find that when I’m having the best time, I forget about documenting the experience. Luckily, I surround myself with folks who are able to multitask. P.S that’s a life hack!
Today’s letter is a message of gratefulness. I’ll still thank everyone but I want to throw my immense gratitude into the universe. This is mostly what I’ve been feeling since the festival ended, I’m so thankful my heart could burst. This year has been intense and I don’t think I would have been in decent shape if it weren’t for you carrying me on your back with your support. I know you’re also going through your own stuff and I pray to all the gods that goodness and prosperity keep showing up for you because you completely deserve it.
I wasn’t going to cry but here I am crying and typing like some Hallmark actress in a Christmas movie. Let’s move on to less heavy things.
I’ve been deep in my KDrama bag this year, it’s unreal. Anyhoo, I’m currently watching Reborn Rich which I highly recommend. Love Is For Suckers and May I Help You are still on and I’m having a great time watching those. Old shows that I’m binging and loving are, My Roommate Is A Gumiho and Mr Queen, both hilarious and swoon-worthy. Are you watching anything fun? Please share RECs with me, I plan to be indoors a lot this holiday season.
It’s the end of the year so a lot more people will be sharing their stats and best-of lists so, if all you’ve read this year is one book, know that you’ve done an incredible thing. Please don’t feel bad or compare yourself to anyone, okay? I’m begging you. Reading is for fun and comparisons just suck the pleasure out of everything. I’m currently reading A Spell Of Good Things by Ayobami Adebayo and as far as new releases go, I think 2023 is going to have more hits than 2022. To keep up with my reading, add me as a friend on Storygraph. I find that it’s a better app for tracking reads than Goodreads, it’s more reader-centric.
This is one song that currently has me in a chokehold.
The K-pop girlies are going crazy this year and I’m here for it. I even curated a playlist of my current faves, you can give it a listen HERE. This playlist is perfect for walks, exercise, chores or even morning stretches (which are very important the older we get).
This is getting longer than I anticipated so imma let you go now. Please remember to hydrate, eat well, sleep well, and poop well. Most importantly, don’t forget to give yourself the grace you always extend to others. You need it too, okay?
If you love my content, please do consider supporting me by giving me a shout-out on social media or in real life (prayers are fine too).
See you on the other side, Dearest.
XOXO
