“Live as if you were living a second time, and as though you had acted wrongly the first time.”
-Viktor E. Frankl
Hey you,
What a week, huhn? How was yours? Was it better than last week? Or was it just meeh?
My week was comme ci comme ca. I tried something new and Nigeria defeated me. So all I wanted to do was make oats and cry but Mr. M(the partner) came to my rescue and saved the day. I had tea instead, Chamomile and Jasmine. Very relaxing. It would have been nice to have the oats though, sometimes one just wants to stew in their misery.
In hindsight, never be too afraid to ask for help. You might feel weird but your people want to be there for you. You would want them to ask you so why shouldn’t you extend that courtesy to them?
Anyhoo, this week, music played a big role in making the moments that sucked suck less. Is it just me or does Spotify have the best-curated playlists? It’s like they read my mind. Check out the ones that kept me company this week:
This Is Avril Lavigne If you know, you know
All The Feels This is just pure vibes
Hit Rewind This is a combination of not-so-old top hits
Soft 00s Really chill music from the 2000s
Let me know if you enjoy any of them and which song takes you back. Do you have a preferred music app?
Dearest, when was the last time you did something for the first time? Take a minute to think about this. When we were young, so much of life was new; we were often doing things we’d never done. I think it’s important to recapture that feeling, especially when life starts feeling routine, you know?
Neuroscientists have found that the brain is hardwired to enjoy novelty. New experiences and challenges stimulate the brain to produce dopamine as we go into problem-solving mode. Increased dopamine acts like adrenalin, giving you that “high” feeling of exhilaration and dopamine levels are depleted by stress, lack of activity, and poor nutrition.
So what new thing will you do in the new week? Check out this video where people ages 0-100 answer the question. I hope you’re inspired.
In the spirit of doing something new, I’m creating a permanent section in this newsletter called #Spotlight. In this area, I’ll be shouting out folks who are awesome and doing tings.
Meet Oyinda AKA @oyindalovesbooks. She is a bookstagrammer and overall Digital Content Creator with a bubbly personality and a dazzling smile. It’s been a pleasure watching her carve her space in the online book community.
I love her book choices and how she interacts with the books she reads. She just launched her Youtube channel, so you should definitely subscribe. Oh, she is also an Indulgent Bibliophile, so a premium human being right there.
I seriously have to work on keeping this newsletter short. It’s time to leave you with a fun fact. IN GERMANY, IF YOU DON’T CLINK YOUR GLASSES AND SAY PROST, YOU WILL RECEIVE BAD LUCK. Germans will often make eye contact when making toast as a common custom. This is because of the superstition that if you do not do so you will receive seven years of bad sexual relations.
Okay, byeeeeeeeeeee! x
This soft 00s playlist is hitting!
