What we’re not going to do this year, is expend energy on things that don’t make us happy.
Hey you,
Happy New Year! Yes, you’ve wished me that already but why can’t I say it again? I’m really hoping and praying that this year will be better for us, especially in the money department, but most especially in love and awareness for ourselves. I mean, an empty cup can’t make or spend money, right?
So, how are things? I hope you’re being kind to yourself with all the new year goals and stuff, you’re not a robot, okay? TAKE IT EASY! Not every time productivity, sometimes, perfect the art of doing nothing. I saw a tweet recently that said, multiple streams of happiness>>, and I fuck with that so much. That’s my new life mission. Also, the tweet below inspired today’s letter.
It’s not something I’ve ever given much thought but it kinda makes sense. We’re always planning To-Do stuff but there are so many things we should be shedding if we want to live a soft(er) life. Let’s stew on this for a bit, I’ll come back to it another time.
Anyhoo, I just finished watching The Silent Sea on Netflix, it’s a Korean thriller series, and damn, my heart was in my mouth a lot. Really chilling watch. Also, Gong Yoo is in it.
The School For Good Mothers is my most recently finished novel and my entry for the #SomethingBookishReadingChallenge prompt, A Book About Motherhood.
If you’re a mother, this will be a very triggering read so, proceed with caution. It’s supposed to be a dystopian novel but it feels too close to current realities and I shed a few tears because I’m so upset at the unfairness and injustices that women go through in this shitty world. Overall, it’s a well-written book and an excellent debut, I’ll be looking forward to more work from this author.
In the spirit of doing something new, I’ll be making a cream-based pasta soonest, I always have it in restaurants but I’d like to make it with an Amyn twist(and by Amyn twist, I just mean more heat and spice), I’ll share pics in the next letter. If you think of any easy recipe, forward it to me please, and thanks.
I read a fun fact and I don’t know what to make of it. “The cuteness of babies is key to their survival. Cute babies grab everyone's attention as they can melt adults' hearts, ensuring that they receive a steady source of protection and food until they are mature. Scientists claim that the attractive traits of babies activate instinctual attention in adults. On the other hand, unattractive babies tend to face discrimination as per studies.” What do you think?
Before I go, are you reading with The Indulgent Bibliophile this month? The author is joining us during the monthly book chat and I’m so excited. P.S she curated a playlist of Caribbean songs that bring to life the book in a very magical way, listen HERE.
See you on the other side.
XOXO
