Hey you,
How are things? Has February been good to you? I really hope you had lots of moments to smile. Are you doing the gratitude jar this year? I think I’m going back to full-time journalling, while I enjoyed the jar method, after I read them at the end of the year, I was surrounded by many pieces of paper and I didn’t like that, so it’s back to the books! I do have something else I’m doing with a jar this year but the scarcity of cash has made it a little difficult. For every book I complete, I’m supposed to put N500 in the jar but alas.
I was inspired by Faith @suckerforcoffe and I’m going to do my best to keep at it whenever I find cash. PS Faith has launched a YouTube bookish channel with BFF, Joan that you should definitely subscribe to, it’s called JoanAndFaithReads.
The Nigerian presidential election is going to be held on February 25th and my anxiety is at an all-time high but I know I’m not alone in this. To help myself, I’m aggressively staying in my pleasure lane, and by that I mean, non-stop reading, non-stop Kdramas, and non-stop TikTok. If you are a Nigerian living in Nigeria, how have you been sparking joy?
Today’s letter is mostly a highlight of stuff that has made me happy or brought me joy.
Follow my Instagram page to be updated on TikToks which made me laugh, I update this on my Stories every day.
I have three Kdramas that I enjoyed so much and I can’t stop talking about them, Weak Hero Class, The Forbidden Marriage, and most recently, Netflix’s Love To Hate You. I saw the other two on HiTV, and Nkirii.com
I created a cocktail that is inspired by The Indulgent Bibliophile’s February book of the month, The Havoc Of Choice. You can check out the recipe HERE. SHare feedback whenever you try it.
I visited a restaurant, Maple Lagos, and the food was really bomb.
Judging by their menu, it would be a really lovely place for brunch. The prices are mid-range, and they have good service.
I was lucky to read an advance copy of The Middle Daughter by Chika Unigwe and I don’t want to give any spoilers but you need to brace yourself for that novel. If you thought Tomorrow I Become A Woman was heavy, this is even heavier. But I highly recommend it because it’s such a good read. It would be out on April 4th.
I have been able to push myself to publish a podcast episode every two weeks and I’m proud of me for that. In the latest episode, I talk about what makes a romance novel a romance novel. You can listen HERE, it’s available on all your favourite streaming platforms.
My baby sister turned 30!
It was so heartwarming to see her so happy, surrounded by her faves, and having a good time.
At this point, that’s all I can remember, I have to return to doing the fun things so I don’t start thinking about the shitty situation the Nigerian government has put us in. Please remember to hydrate, eat well, sleep well, and poop well. Most importantly, don’t forget to give yourself the grace you always extend to others. You need it too, okay?
If you love my content, please do consider supporting me by buying me a cup of tea (I’ve finally found a way for non-Nigerian residents to contribute) or by giving me a shout-out on social media or in real life (prayers are fine too).
See you on the other side, Dearest.
XOXO
Thank you for the mention. ♥️ The food looks delish! The Middle Daughter is now high up on my TBR because of you. I can't wait to read it.
Thank you for the cocktail recipe and the daily TikTok laughs.
For the book rewards savings, can you do that via PiggyVest? Save 500 naira for every book you complete, I think I’ll join you and do that
